Summer Camp
Well, we’re back from another successful summer camp! We had seven days at The Adventure Centre on the Isle of Man and what a great week it was. The weather Gods were shining on us and we only had one wet afternoon. We have never had to do a suntan lotion check on camp before!
The range of activities the scouts and some of the leader took part in included:
• Assault course
• Field Archery
• Crate Stacking
• Zip Wire
• Abseil
• Sea Kayaking
• Power boating
• Swimming
• Coastal walk
• Gill Scrambling
• Coasteering
• Canoeing
• Kayaking
• Sailing
• Operation Phoenix (teamwork test)
• 100 foot sea cliff abseil
• Air Rifle Shooting
• Target competition
As you can see, we had a very busy week! We also enjoyed several trips on the Electric Railway, a trip up Snaefell on the tram and another trip on the horse drawn tram along the Douglas sea front.
All the excellent meals were provided by the centre, including a 3 course dinner – rumour has it a couple of the leaders have each gained half a stone in weight.
We are currently collating all the pictures and up to now have over 250 with more coming in all the time. We are planning to have a presentation evening when we get back after the summer holidays. We will invite all scouts and parents to come down to the Scout Centre to watch the slide show and enjoy some refreshments. It should be fun!
